Memory

The project is located in a low-rise, quiet neighborhood within the city of Buenos Aires, on a compact lot that prompted us to develop precise strategies to balance density with spatial quality. The central premise was to create a house in which each space has its own identity, without giving up the presence of a garden or a constant relationship with nature—even within a site of limited dimensions.

The house is organized across three levels, with a layout that favors compactness in plan in order to free up as much garden space as possible. Building upward allows for a clear organization of uses and maximizes natural light and ventilation.

On the ground floor are the social areas: a spacious kitchen connected to a private patio that serves as both a source of ventilation and a green lung, and a double-height living-dining room that brings a sense of openness and hierarchy. This double height also allows for visual and spatial connections between the different levels of the house.

The basement houses a playroom or multipurpose space, naturally lit and ventilated through an English courtyard, offering a more introspective and contained environment for gathering.

The upper floors contain the bedrooms, each paired with its own patio or planted bed. These elements not only bring nature into the most private spaces, but also act as visual and climatic filters, generating intimacy and a variety of atmospheres throughout the home.

The project operates through a logic of layers: filters, transparencies, scales, heights, vegetation, and materiality work together to create an urban home—intimate, connected to its surroundings, and with a strong emphasis on delivering spatial and sensory quality in every corner.
