Memory
There are places where the landscape is not merely observed—it imposes itself with a presence that calls for silence, attentiveness, and care. On a sloping site descending toward Laguna Garzón, surrounded by tall trees and dense vegetation, this project is conceived as a minimal pause within that green universe. More than occupying, it seeks to accompany. More than building, it aims to settle with respect.
The two dwellings that make up the project gently unfold along the slope, following the rhythm of the terrain without altering it. The architecture emerges subtly, like a shadow among the trees, a geometry that appears only faintly through the branches. Vegetation surrounds and protects them. From certain angles, they almost disappear.
The relationship with the environment is constant—both visual and material. Interior spaces open toward the lagoon, the sky, and the forest, capturing fragments of the landscape along each path. Transparency defines the experience of living here: glass walls allow nature to flow in without barriers, while a series of filters—shutters, screens, and lattices—modulate light, views, and intimacy.
The project neither closes itself off nor fully exposes—it breathes with its surroundings. The use of wood, in tones close to foliage and bark, supports this search for fusion, accompanying the passage of time and weather. There is no protagonism—only a quiet presence.
Each house becomes a place of contemplation and refuge. The exterior subtly enters the interior, and the architecture follows the natural rhythm of the day, the wind, the reflections on the lagoon. Ultimately, it is about inhabiting without disturbing, about being part of the place without dominating it.
